This was a fast read that I was able to get through during my vacation (IKR?!). But sitting still to read and not at my computer is a treat for me! I stumbled upon this book after downloading another book from the author. I had heard about time blocks/chunking before but the author's practical way of explaining the concept and providing the research was super insightful. As a project manager, the tips of the book gave me aha! moments when it comes to doing the work of my project. The best nugget for me: being productive during my breaks. Great Scott! The tips were bloody brilliant! I absolutely appreciated the tips and guidance on what can be done during breaks and what SHOULD NOT be done during my breaks (i.e. email). What was more so super helpful was the author's guidance on using the break times to work on the low-priority task items that I had a on my long list of to-do's. Tada! While the tips are more applicable to home-based workers, I definitely see application for folks who work in the office.After reading this book, I'm now a "fan" of the author and have downloaded additional books for future reading. In a world of fast-paced, bite-sized processing of information, the author managed to put together an easy-to-read, practical guide on effectively managing your time. I for one will be recommending this book to my clients who struggle with time management.

Before I purchased this guide, I had started reading the free PDF of The Pomodoro Technique written by its creator, Francesco Cirillo. That guide was written clearly enough to understand the rules of the Pomodoro Technique. However, after looking at the Table of Contents for this guide, I decided to buy it for another point of view. I'm glad I did. The author provided a starting point of tips and ideas to build on to customize the Pomodoro Technique to fit one's lifestyle. I think it was worth the minimal amount charged for it.

I bought this book based on the reviews and my need to manage my time better between various tasks. I seriously went through the initial pages and later started skimming the content to find any useful insights but was disappointed. Other than introducing two terms "time-chunking" , "time-boxing" and setting up a timer there were no useful insights in the book. I trusted amazon reviews about the book but was disappointed with the quality of content. I bought a kindle edition and will be deleting it from my library ...

I've read before about blocking chunks of time to focus on single tasks of work and then take a small rest. "The Now Habit" book is great explaining this approach. This new book "The Pomodoro Technique" clearly explains the procedure, but also gives details about how to customize the procedure to your best personal style of work. I thought I had all the information about the Pomodoro technique after reading online a few blogs, and I was right for the original and basic procedure, but reading this book helped me understand I can customize the procedure to my requirements; not to mention the motivation and good reasons to implement it. I only would add to the "non Pomodoro time" another viable activity: meditate. Thanks to the author for this great book.Buy it before price increases :)

I read this book to find out more about the pomodoro technique which was covered in the book. The author goes into some detail on time chunking, which appears to be an earlier time management method to pomodoro. He went on to explain how he has modified time chunking to fit his needs and then spends a considerable number of chapters discussing his philosophy on managing your day which goes into more granular depth to include diet and exercise. If you only want to learn about time chunking then you only need to read the first half of the book, but at the price (free for me) it is interesting, but not necessary to read the entire book.

I read this over the weekend and the tips are so easy to implement that I went to work on Monday and started to implement. Now, I haven't become a perfect time manager in one day, but by just starting with one or two of the recommendations and observing how I 'normally' work, I see clearly now how so much time how 'flies by' i.e. is unproductive. Even coming on to the end of the day when I realized how much I hadn't achieved, I still decided to use a 40 min chuck of time to complete a task! One less thing to do tomorrow and I left the office feeling better than my old habit of giving up and leaving it for the next day!So I feel you are really serious about improving your productivity and getting things done, this is the book.

I pretty much just bought this to make sure I understood how Pomodoro and similar techniques worked. A very effective method, and this book teaches it quite thoroughly, as well as explaining what it's good and how it works.

Maybe it's just me, but I didn't feel there was much here except common sense things I'm already doing. There are lots and lots of partial and blank pages. There's also a lot of going over the same thing again. Many of the suggestions border on telling a person when to breathe.
