About the Author
Dan Bunker has been playing guitar for more than twenty years. He spent two years playing and studying jazz composition at the University of Utah. Classical study and performance have also been a large part of his repertoire for many years. I love this classical guitar hymn book! The choral version of the hymns are found in hymn books of Christian-based churches so the classical guitar music transcriptions are not only for people who attend an LDS church but also for classical guitarist in any church. I am at an intermediate level of playing classical guitar. I find the arrangements to be well within my playing abilities.

This book does a great job of making it easy to play hymns with a guitar. The tabs are easy to read. I've been hearing guitar more and more in church, and it is definitely uplifting and in no way disrespectful. This will hopefully arm the next generation of aspiring guitarists with some church-worthy material. The book contains a few dozen of the more popular LDS hymns; looking forward to volume 2!
I love this book! The hymns are straight-forward, no-frills (i.e. solos, riffs, etc.) arrangements that are simple enough to learn quickly, but fun enough to play that I use the book often.Just as an FYI, I own both Vol 1 and 2 of this series. I use both of them and I recommend both of them, however I use Volume 2 much more than Volume 1. It could be my personal preference of hymns, but if I was forced to choose just one, I would choose Volume 2.
Love it, great arrangements and fairly easy to learn/play.
Too hard for most basic players that are not classically trained. I wish someone would publish a LDS hymn book that has a simple melody line with some basic chords added to tie the song together.

I was hoping for some more popular songs - and some that I could play. I know hymns aren't necessarily written for guitar, but for $20 bucks you should get more than 20 songs that the average guitar player can play. These are fine, but the arrangements are little difficult. I've been playing for over 30 years and found these to be harder than expected.
