Everybody has a story to tell and I can relate. Telling your story, over and over, reminds you of what really happened and the story that you want to be told, hence; fiction. Let's not call anybody a liar, but with just a little voice inflection a good reader can raise and lower and the timber of his voice and change the slant of the narrative. Some things are more important to the author than the reader. This is a learned discipline trust me. Very few can sit down and write a book and have it make any sense. So Kudu's to you for giving me a book, a little wordy at times, that I could follow and enjoy your humor. Not bad for a first publication. Good luck on your current escapade.
As a motorcyclist I found this account of Tim's travels especially interesting. It's a great story of how, even though he'd ridden motorcycles for a while, riding a large adventure style bike loaded with gear is a whole new ball game. The story is well written and kept my interest throughout. I hope this author writes another book about his worldwide travels .Maiden Voyage: The Prequel to The Adventure of a LifetimeI'm still following Tim and Marisas travels on their website NotiersFrontiers.com. The story only gets better as they go. Don't miss any of it.
Friends:I actually liked this book more than " Jupiter's Travels ", " The Long Way Round " and several other long distance motorcycle journeys as it documented a reasonable and mostly Fun trip in the western United States.Tim Notier gives the reader permission to trailer the bike though some of the long stretches of un-appealing terrain then only ride through beauty. Tim found me through my travel blog and hooked me up with his book. We are definitely kindred wandering spirits! Although I am not a motorcycle rider, and am actually totally clueless in this particular respect, I really enjoyed reading about Tim and his fiancé's adventure to places I have wandered to in the past. I totally related to the human connections they enjoyed, the awe they felt when gazing upon the unreal scenery, and the dreams that were born as a direct result of their incredible experience. If you're a newbie biker, and especially one that plans on visiting Arches, Bryce, the Badlands, and other such western destinations, this would be an extremely helpful resource for what to do and not do on your very own maiden voyage.
Tim has obvious talent as a writer. If he keeps writing, this will be the "earlier stuff" people come looking for after reading whatever is next; no doubt. So lets hope he does - the title implies he will.Notier's Frontiers hits all the right notes as a non-fictional travel tale. Tim's dry sense of humour and prose style perfectly complement a story of two amateurs giving adventure a shot. But it's more than just scenic description and comedic error (though Tim has a knack for that too), it tugs on heavier themes as well. Tim tells the story of how he and his fiancee discovered that they were cut out for something extra.Highly recommend reading. I finished the book in no time because I found myself picking it up at any occasion I could find.
I had the pleasure of meeting Tim and Marisa shortly after they started their current rtw journey while I was on a motorcycle trip of my own. Being from the Midwest myself I immediately identified with their down to earth attitudes. I purchased Tim's book a few months later and couldn't put it down. It is a great read about a short journey of some very down to earth people. A good mix of adventure and humor.
Reading this was almost like being on the road with Tim and Marissa. Both Tim and Marissa have a way of telling their story that makes you feel you're right there with them.
Tim, I just finished reading "Maiden Voyage". It was surprisingly well written and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The trip into Yellowstone sounds epic. I had to laugh at the Shafer canyon ride. Riding that trail was my favorite day ever on a motorcycle. That being said I rode up it not down, and I was on a 450 not an 1190, and I was the only one on the bike!! That trail brought back some great memories. The book was a great introduction to your travels and I look forward to following your updates.
