Tina Turner is one of the greatest entertainers of our time. When one writes their story, it typically includes one's flaws. Yes, Tina had an abusive partner and finally made the decision to get out and never go back; she had a mother that didn't provide the love she craved; and was fortunate to have other musicians embrace her and find the love of her life. Between her great relationship, multiple houses, and redecorating, she found happiness. But what she doesn't tackle is that fact that her four children were left without either parent and shuffled around to other relatives and friends. If you are going to be honest about your "love story" then this aspect of your life should be faced as well. Still love Tina.
It is 2:20 am. I bought the book and had no intentions of laying it down until I was done. I imagine that is how Tina felt about writing it. As one of the highest inspirations of my life, starting at a young age, Tina’s story has so very much more to it than the hopelessly low Ike Turner. Buy the book. Read it. You will be grateful you did!
I just got Tina's new book and cannot put it down. It's not just an autobiography, but an amazing source of motivation and inspiration!

Tina Turner is the best I've seen her in concert 5 times and after each one I felt I could just do anything she's really been trough the mill she is up there with Elizabeth Taylor what a life, you go Miss turner and thanks for sharing you're life with us and for giving us hope!!!!
A great book with lots of photos, and such a personal story. I'm from Tennessee and have followed Tina and loved her music for so long. It was nice to catch up with her since her retirement by reading this memoir. It's amazing what she has gone through and overcome, even since her days with Ike.This book starts with her second marriage in 2013. It dwells a bit in the past and covers her days with Ike and on tour, eventually walking away from that and reinventing herself, and then retiring and finding love again. From there, we learn of her struggle with cancer, a stroke, and a kidney transplant! The book even ends with one last tragedy that just happened earlier this year!I really enjoyed the personal stories she shared, like about her friendship with David Bowie or her farewell tour or why she became a citizen of Switzerland. There's lots of little things like this sprinkled throughout the book that really make it an enjoyable read.Great read! Tina really is simply the best!
Tina Turner is a woman with unique talent combined with strength and perseverance. This book takes you on an amazing journey from her beginnings as a sharecropper's daughter in Tennessee to becoming a global rock icon. She's refreshingly honest about the peaks and valleys of her life...she's had so many of them. The first half of the book covers some familiar ground, Ike and her revue days in more detail, but the second half is what I found most interesting. She describes her life after finding international success, fame, money, true love, retirement and facing multiple life-threatening illnesses in recent years. Living a quiet life in Switzerland out of the limelight, the public rarely gets to see the real person that she is offstage. We finally get some insight into her artistry, how she views her stage persona and voice. She takes the reader through the artistic process that was required to become "Tina" every night on stage. It provides an interesting peek behind the curtain describing how she created her own unique look, from the wigs to the make-up, choosing the right costumes, having her high-heels custom made to withstand the heavy dancing. This lady is a perfectionist and her work ethic is something that not only her audience, but peers admire. She shares some great stories involving Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, David Bowie, Mel Gibson, Phil Spector, Bono, Jack Nicholson and other fellow icons. Her story is heartbreaking at times, but her "must-move-forward" attitude makes it an inspiring and fun read. I recommend buying it.
I am a Tina fan for sure and I feel privileged to have read the story about her life, more than what she has ever shared before. I became so captivated that on a few occasions I had to put the book down because I felt that some things resonated so deeply with me. She is and sways will be my favorite entertainer and idol. I am so grateful that she shared her love story and pictures, many of which no one has seen. I really enjoyed reading her story and will read it again. Thank you Tina.
I read the first book about Tina Turner. I, Tina (1986). And, this book is a great follow up. You will not be bored for one minute! It is and awesome and very inspiring read.
